School Programs

We make it fun and easy to plan your school's next field trip or retreat!

Throughout the school year, we host a limited number of school groups at our camp facilities and "on trail" with our wilderness guides for environmental education programs, leadership and community building retreats, J-terms, and workshops.

Each program is custom designed to reflect the unique goals and interests of
participating students, staff, and chaperones.

What we offer

Single Day Programs

Single-day programs are hosted at Camp Carvela and are great for local school groups who do not require overnight accommodations.

This format is ideal for those looking for an outdoor experience with a narrow focus (e.g. map reading, water safety, etc.)

Overnight Programs

Multi-day programs are hosted at Camp Carvela and Camp Lookout and range from two days to three weeks.

This format is ideal for leadership and community building retreats, J-terms, and workshops with a varied and extensive focus.

Adventure Programs

Describe your service here. What makes it great? Use short catchy text to tell people what you offer, and the benefits they will receive. A great description gets readers in the mood, and makes them more likely to go ahead and book.

Our philosophy & approach

At Project Foxwood, our goal is to help participants strengthen their sense of self while forming meaningful connections with others and the environment through playful outdoor learning experiences.

Our approach to programming prioritizes creativity, collaboration, choice, and community-building. This means we work with you to co-create an experience that reflects the unique interests and needs of your school community. As a result, no two school trip itineraries ever look the same!

Programming & activities

Every element of your itinerary is customizable. Prior to arrival, we’ll work together to identify your group’s core goals (e.g. student bonding, leadership development, academic enrichment, etc.) and discuss potential activity options. We’ll then produce a high-level itinerary that leaves room for student choice and decision-making, as well as any school-specific programming you wish to incorporate.

Once on site, our team will lead all programming, except as-determined for school-led activities or lessons.

Within each programming period, our staff will present a variety of activity options from which students can choose. Activity options will intentionally cater to a wide range of interests and energy levels, as well as any requested academic topics (see below for example activities). Students will also have ample opportunity to suggest, design, and lead activities of their own with support from our staff.

Our daily itinerary also includes unstructured free-time, creating intentional space for students to dive deeper into their favorite activities, explore the natural environment, interact freely with fellow participants, and create their own fun.

Each day ends with an all-group Evening Program that provides opportunity for movement, reflection, and connection. This might be an active game or group challenge, a skit or performance night, a bonfire, or a special idea proposed by group participants or staff.
