Project Foxwood seasonal staff hail from all over the U.S and world, bringing unique skills, perspectives, and passions to our residential camp programs and wilderness adventure trips.
Open positions
Each year, we hire a seasonal staff of 50+ counselors, instructors, wilderness guides, health officers, cooks, and more to support summer programming at our residential camps and wilderness adventure program.
We're currently hiring for the following roles for the 2025 season (May 31-August 16):
Counselor
Counselors are responsible for leading our daily programming. They serve as role models and mentors for our campers, while also ensuring their safety and well-being.
Ideal counselor candidates are 18+ and have prior experience working with kids. Existing first aid, CPR, and/or lifeguard certification is a plus!
Health Officer
Health Officers are responsible for all on-site medical services, including caring for ill or injured campers and staff, administering medication, and providing emergency medical care as needed.
Ideal applicants hold one of the following certifications: RN, LPN, EMT, WFR, or MD.
Cook
Cooks and kitchen assistants are responsible for planning, sourcing, preparing, and serving 3 meals per day for campers and staff throughout the duration of our summer programming. Our kitchen staff is tasked with accommodating a variety of dietary needs and preferences, including vegetarian diets and food allergies/intolerances.
Ideal cook and kitchen assistant candidates are 18+ with prior kitchen and/or food preparation experience.
Wilderness Guide
Wilderness Guides lead our multi-day outdoor adventure trips, blending our unique camper-led programming model with outdoor adventure to provide trip participants with an unforgettable camp experience.
Ideal Wilderness Guide candidates are 21+, have previous experience leading outdoor trips, and are WFR/WFA & lifeguard certified (or willing to be certified).
Pay and benefits
All seasonal staff members receive a base salary of $4,300. Staff with specialized training or certifications (e.g. lifeguard certification) are eligible for additional stipends.
Room and board are provided for all seasonal staff members.

Where you'll work
We may be biased, but we think our location is absolutely beautiful!
Project Foxwood team members work from our two residential camp locations, Camp Carvela and Camp Lookout, and lead wilderness adventures throughout Northern Michigan.
Residential camp staff rotate between camp locations throughout the season, based on staffing needs (transportation is provided as necessary).
Camp Carvela is located at 55 Bass Lake Road in Traverse City, MI
Camp Lookout is located at 1310 Buena Road in Frankfort, MI
